welcome to my house!

Hi!I'm Sang-gon,CHUNG from korea. I am currently a professor teaching printmaking, and I also diligently pursuing my own career as an artist. My personal area of interest and focus is the traditional printmaking utlizing computers to achieve various effects.I had my first Solo Exhibition in 1990, and have had eight more Solo Exhibition since then.I have tried to research and develop my own techniques and characteristics in my works to create my own unique style. This pictures are an image of a plant that I entered into the computer using a object projector and than modified. I then print my work on various media, such as different papers and transparent film. Trough my work I want to show people that these discarded plants can have new life breathed into them trough my use of the computer. We don't have the time to appriciate these plants while they are alive, but my work tries to revatalize preserve various aspects of the beauty of these plants. I use the lens to give these plants a new existence, separate from the physical, and approximately 20~50 times larger then life. Using the computer I modify the image, but I dont wish to overly distort the object. The resulting works use various methods to separate the object from the concreteness of its physical form.First, I used Stylus Pro XL, HP DesignJet 750C+ create a lithography or screenprint type image. The second verson was the method, enlarging it into both traditional paper and handmade Korean paper. This image looks more like general printing, utilizing repeated plates of images to make the shape, applying even pressure to all parts of the print. The printer mainly used was the Michelangelo V7. Third, the method is with transparent film, using an overlapping method to create the enlarged image. By using back lighting with the transparecy, the purpose is to give impression that one is viewing the image under a microscope.
